Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about NutriBoard, CFIA compliance, and Canadian nutrition labelling.

Is the Nutrition Facts table actually CFIA compliant?+

Yes. We follow CFIA Figure 1.1(E) standard bilingual format, use Health Canada's 2022 Daily Values, and apply all FDR Schedule M rounding rules. Many food producers use NutriBoard labels directly on their products.

Where does the nutrition data come from?+

We pull from two official sources: the USDA FoodData Central database (14,000+ ingredients) and Health Canada's Canadian Nutrient File (CNF). You can also enter custom ingredients manually.

Can I use this for products I sell in stores?+

Yes — NutriBoard labels are designed for products you sell in stores, at farmers' markets, and online. The labels follow CFIA regulations and use official Health Canada data. For high-volume production runs, some producers also verify with lab analysis for extra confidence.

Do you support the Front-of-Package (FOP) symbol?+

Yes. NutriBoard automatically calculates whether your product requires the FOP nutrition symbol based on saturated fat, sugars, and sodium thresholds — and shows you which variant to use.

What's the difference between Free and Pro?+

Free lets you try NutriBoard with 1 recipe and a watermarked preview. Pro ($29/mo founding, $49 after) unlocks 30 labels, exports, and a production trial. Producer ($59/mo founding, $99 after) adds full production logging, traceability, recalls, and PCP. Business ($149/mo founding, $199 after) gives you unlimited everything with full CFIA compliance.

Can I cancel anytime?+

Yes. No contracts, no commitments. Cancel your Pro subscription anytime from your account settings.

Do I need a lab analysis to use NutriBoard?+

No. NutriBoard calculates nutrition from ingredient database values, so you can generate a label without lab testing. For commercial products, lab verification is recommended but not required to get started.

Does NutriBoard support bilingual labels?+

Yes. Every Nutrition Facts table is generated in both English and French, as required by Canadian food labelling regulations (FDR B.01.450).

Are the CFIA rounding rules correct?+

Yes. NutriBoard applies all CFIA Schedule M rounding rules automatically. Calories round to the nearest 10, fat to the nearest 0.5g, sodium to the nearest 5mg, and every other nutrient follows the Food and Drug Regulations. Over 130 automated tests verify these rules.
